IMPORTANT INFORMATION PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING
Soccer Rhode Island has mandated a conversion to a new database provider and registration process for all soccer organizations in Rhode Island. The new provider is GotSoccer. PYSA is working to learn the new system as registration is being conducted. We appreciate your patience during this process.

A player’s soccer age is based on DOB. The GotSoccer system automatically ages all of the players up one year on 8/1. This means that when you register, your child will be placed into the age group he/she falls into right now. For example, if your child played U10 this spring, your child will still be listed as U10 until August 1st. This will not affect tryouts. All players eligible for each age group will be notified of tryouts. All tryout information will be listed on our website as well.
ADDITIONAL REGISTRATION INFORMATION: When registering, enter the name of your child as it appears on the birth certificate. This is required by the state. There is an additional field for you to enter a nickname if you desire. Also, have your insurance cards handy. All information is private and we do not give or sell any information to 3rd parties.
PAYMENT: The only payment method is by credit card. Please contact the Pirates Registrar with any questions (contact info below). A limited number of scholarships are available. For more information, please contact Keith Kosoff at prior to registering.
REFUND POLICY: For U6 & U8 players requesting a refund prior to (and including) the first day of practice, 100% of the registration fee will be refunded. After the first day of practice , no refunds will be granted.
For U10 – U14 players requesting a refund prior to (and including) the first day of tryouts/practice, the registration fee minus a $25 processing fee will be refunded. After the first event ( i.e. tryout or practice), no refunds will be given
SPECIAL TRYOUT NOTES
- Any player wishing to “play-up” is required to get approval from both Age Level Coordinators. Please contact Keith Kosoff (
) to make such a request.
- A player will be placed on a Team within the Age Level they are trying out in. They cannot change Age Levels afterwards – No Exceptions.
-Player Team Placement Policy
The Pirates Club always wants to bring the game of soccer to every child but there are certain rules that help to make sure players are properly placed on teams:
• Players need to attend Age Level Tryouts or tryout make-up sessions for that age level
• A player that did not attend tryouts or make-ups, will be evaluated by the Age Level Coordinator and other head coaches for placement on a team when there is space available on that team and :o The player moves into the local area after the Tryout date
o The player has never been involved with Pirates soccer in the past
o The player misses tryouts (including make-updates) due to a medical condition or injury and is granted a waiver by the Pirates President ( documentation of the injury/condition by a physician may be asked for when requesting a waiver )• A player that did not attend tryouts or make-ups, will be placed on the last team in that age level when:
o The player is a previous Pirates player, that is a player who played or was registered with Pirates at any time during the previous September 1st to August 31st soccer season (year), who has decided to join the Club again unless they have just moved back into the area and could not attend the age level tryouts. (For example, a player who plays in either the Fall of ‘09 or the Spring of ’10 will be considered a previous Pirates player for the entire Sept 2010 – Aug 2011 soccer season)
o The player knowingly missed tryouts
o Note that if there is no room on the last team, the player cannot be brought onto the last team unless the coach of that team agrees to move a player up to the next team and there is room to do so. In addition, the player being moved and their parents need to agree as well.

Portsmouth Pirates Tryout Schedule for fall/spring 2010/2011 teams are listed below. All players need to be registered to tryout. If not, they will not be allowed to participate. If you can not make any tryout, please contact appropriate coach BEFORE tryouts. Bring water, ball (size 4 for U12, size 5 for U14), and Pirate jersey to all tryouts. For those without a Pirate jersey, wear any T-shirt. Additional information will be put on the Pirate web site in next few days for each age group. U10 tryouts will be announced later.
